THE ANCIENT TAOIST PRINCIPLE OF RECIPROCITY
IF YOU DO ME A FAVOR, I WILL RETURN A GREATER FAVOR TO YOU BUT IF YOU HURT ME, I WILL NOT OFFER THE OTHER CHEEK. IF YOU INSULT ME, I WILL PUNCH YOU; IF YOU PUNCH ME, I WILL BREAK YOUR ARM; IF YOU BREAK MY ARM, I WILL BREAK YOUR LEG; AND IF YOU BREAK MY LEG, I WILL PUT YOU IN A COFFIN

Supreme Oneness Divination - Tai Yi Shen Shu (太乙神数)

Supreme Oneness Divination - Tai Yi Shen Shu (太乙神数) is one of the three highest metaphysical arts (三式) of China, the others being Da Liu Ren (大六壬) and Qi Men Dun Jia (奇门遁甲).

In ancient time,Tai Yi Shen Shu (太乙神数) was originally used to predict major change of political events and natural disasters. Later on, Tai Yi Shen Shu (太乙神数) has been popularized over the centuries to predict personal fortunes.

Tai Yi Shen Shu (太乙神数) analysis is conducted from the Tai Yi Cosmic Board and the array of symbols found therein, with special reference to the position of symbols in specific palaces. Important symbols include the Calculator, the Scholar, Tai Yi and Tai Yi, with the foundation of the 8 trigrams as well as the 64 hexagrams.

A number of spirits rotate around the sixteen palaces of the Tai Yi cosmic board, of which there are 72 cosmic boards for the Yin Dun period of each year, and 72 cosmic boards for the Yang Dun period of the year. The spirits land in different palaces with each configuration of the cosmic board. Each cosmic board contains a number of "counts" or numbers - the Host Count and the Guest Count taking primary importance over the Fixed Count.

Basic principles

The core of Taiyi Divine Numbers lies in simulating the movement of celestial bodies and the changes in the aura through complex calculations, and connecting them with human affairs. Its principles mainly include:

Taiyi Years : Calculates the total number of years that have passed since the "Taiji Shangyuan" (a certain Jiazi year, Jiazi month, Jiazi day, and Jiazi hour in ancient times).

The Sixteen Gods of Taiyi : The core is "Taiyi" and other gods and demons such as "Wenchang", "Shiji", and "Jishen". These gods and demons rotate in the sixteen palaces to form different patterns.

Host and guest calculation : Through calculation, we can get the "host calculation" and "guest calculation" to judge the power of the host and guest in the situation.

Yin-Yang Escape, Nine Palaces and Eight Trigrams : Use Yin-Yang Escape, Nine Palaces, Eight Trigrams, Eight Gates and other Yixue elements to conduct analysis.

History and Applications

Origin : The origin of Taiyi Divine Numbers can be traced back to the cosmology of the pre-Qin period, which deified Taiyi (the origin of the universe) and used it to deduce worldly affairs.

Development : Many important figures in history have used or studied Taiyi, such as King Wu of Zhou, Zhuge Liang, and Liu Bowen. Shao Yong, a scholar of the Northern Song Dynasty, developed it into a more complete philosophy of history.

use :
Prediction of national destiny : Ancient emperors and military strategists often used Taiyi to predict the outcome of wars, the general situation of the world, and natural disasters.

Personal Destiny : Over time, Taiyi Divine Numbers were also applied to the calculation of personal destiny, but this is generally considered a later development.

Historical explanation : Some historians believe that citing Taiyi predictions in history books helps to verify historical events and reflects the importance the ancients attached to numerology.

Differences from other divination techniques

Compared to Qi Men Dun Jia and Da Liu Ren, Tai Yi Shen Shu focuses more on predicting macro-level, long-term events, such as the rise and fall of nations and natural and man-made disasters. Hence, it's known as the "Son of Heaven's Study." Its calculations are also extremely complex, requiring a deep understanding of astronomy, calendar theory, and the Yijing (I Ching).

In summary , Taiyi Divine Numbers is a profound ancient numerology that integrates knowledge of astronomy, calendar, and Yijing. It aims to understand the laws governing the operation of heaven and earth through complex mathematical models, and then predict major changes in the country and society.
